Dear Donors/Supporters,
We would like to share an important update and sincerely thank you for your continued trust and support.
As communicated earlier, since Rathna Poovazhagi’s surgery could not proceed due to parental consent issues, the funds raised for her treatment are being responsibly utilised for another urgent pediatric heart case, ensuring that your valuable contributions continue to save young lives.
We would like to inform you that the funds raised for Rathna Poovazhagi will now be utilised for the life-saving heart surgery of Lathivik, a 1-year-and-6-month-old baby diagnosed with a serious congenital heart condition. Lathivik has been admitted to the hospital today for further medical evaluations in preparation for his surgery.
After completing the required assessments, the doctors’ team will finalise the surgery date and treatment plan. We will keep you closely informed with timely updates on Lathivik’s health progress and surgery schedule.

Dear Donors/Supporters,
We are writing to share an important and sensitive update regarding Rathna Poovazhagi, for whom you have so kindly extended your support.
Initially, the hospital doctors’ team carefully explained Rathna’s medical condition to her parents and clearly outlined the urgency and necessity of the heart surgery. After detailed counselling and discussions, the hospital team obtained the parents’ consent to proceed and permission to initiate fundraising for Rathna’s treatment, based on which the campaign was started.
Over the following days, as the surgery date approached, the doctors and hospital management made repeated efforts to counsel and reassure Rathna’s father, addressing medical concerns and explaining the risks of delaying the procedure. The team tried their best to convince the family to proceed in the best interest of the child.
However, despite multiple discussions and sincere efforts by both the doctors and hospital team, Rathna’s father has now expressed that he is not willing to proceed with the surgery. As parental consent is mandatory, the hospital is unable to move forward with the procedure.
In view of this situation, and after careful consideration, the hospital team has decided to utilise the funds raised for Rathna towards other urgent and critical pediatric heart cases, where families have provided consent and children are in immediate need of life-saving treatment. This ensures that your valuable contributions continue to be used responsibly and without delay.
We understand that this update may be disappointing. Please be assured that your support will still save young lives. We will keep you posted shortly on which child’s surgery will be completed using these funds, once the hospital finalises the next urgent case.
We sincerely thank you for your understanding, trust, and continued support in our mission to save children’s lives.
With regards,

Twelve-year-old Rathna Poovazhagi G from Chennai has spent more time in hospitals than in playgrounds. Her journey with heart disease began when she was just six months old. While most babies her age were learning to sit and smile freely, Rathna’s parents were learning to navigate fear, hospital visits and medicines that no child should ever need.
Since then, she has continued her treatment at the Government hospital, attending every follow-up without fail. Her father, Mr. Ganeshan, irons clothes in the garment sector, earning around Rs. 3,500 per week. With this small income, he works tirelessly to look after the family and ensure Rathna never misses her medications. But no matter how hard he tries, the struggles only seem to grow.
When Rathna was six years old, MIOT Hospitals identified her condition during their free cardiac screening camp. During her recent review in August 2025, doctors shared news no parent is ever ready to hear — Rathna has a Double Chambered Right Ventricle (DCRV) along with a small hole in her heart (perimembranous VSD). She now needs urgent surgery to repair her heart and prevent life-threatening complications.
The cost of this surgery is Rs. 3,65,000. For a family living on weekly earnings, this amount is far beyond reach. Her father dreams of giving her a healthy and stable future, but today he stands helpless, unable to afford the treatment that could save his daughter’s life.
Rathna is a bright child who loves school and dreams of playing like other children without feeling tired or breathless. She often asks her mother when she will be able to run freely again. Her parents have no answer — only hope.
Your kindness can be the reason she gets that chance.
By supporting her surgery, you are not just contributing money — you are giving a child a second chance at life and giving a family the strength to continue fighting.
Let us come together to save Rathna Poovazhagi and help her live the life she deserves.
