About the Child

Mithra Sri. S is a 4-year-old child from Pallipattu village in Tiruvallur District. She was born healthy and has remained active without any visible symptoms since birth.

How the Condition Was Detected

In 2025, during a routine school health check-up, doctors suspected a heart condition. She was referred to a free cardiac screening camp conducted by MIOT Hospitals at Thiruvallur Government Hospital. After the screening, she was advised to visit MIOT Hospitals for further evaluation.

Medical Diagnosis

Following detailed investigations, Mithra Sri was diagnosed with Moderate Secundum Atrial Septal Defect (ASD). There is currently no Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH). Although she does not show symptoms now, doctors have advised early treatment to prevent future complications. The recommended treatment is an ASD device closure procedure to ensure normal heart function as she grows.

Estimated Treatment Cost

The estimated cost of the procedure and related medical care is ₹2,00,000. This includes the procedure, hospital stay, investigations, and post-operative care.

Family’s Financial Situation

Mithra Sri’s father, Mr. Sababathi, works as a welder and earns approximately ₹500 per day with irregular employment. When welding work is unavailable, he takes up daily-wage agricultural labor to support the family. Due to their unstable and limited income, the family is unable to afford the cost of this essential heart procedure.
