A Tiny Heart Fighting a Big Battle

Baby Miracline Riana is a three-month-old infant from Adambakkam, Chennai, who has been fighting for her life since the day she was born.

What should have been a joyful beginning quickly turned into a nightmare for her parents. Soon after birth, Miracline developed severe breathing difficulties and her body began turning bluish due to a lack of oxygen. She was immediately rushed to a Government Hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with Down Syndrome along with a serious congenital heart disease.

Determined to save their only child, her parents sought further medical opinions from specialists. After detailed investigations, doctors confirmed that Miracline is suffering from Complete Balanced Atrioventricular Septal Defect (AVSD) — a critical congenital heart condition where there are large holes between the chambers of the heart, causing abnormal blood flow and placing immense strain on her tiny heart and lungs.

Without timely surgery, her condition can become life-threatening and may severely impact her growth and development.

Seeking the best treatment possible, the family approached MIOT Hospitals, Chennai. After evaluation, the paediatric cardiac team advised urgent AVSD Repair Surgery to correct the defect and give Miracline a chance at a healthy future.

The estimated cost of the surgery, including ICU care, hospital stay, investigations, and medications, is Rs. 4,50,000.

A Family Struggling to Save Their Only Child

Miracline's father, Mr. Ravichandran, works as an executive in a private company and earns only Rs. 15,000 per month. Her mother, Ms. Monisha, was forced to leave her job after childbirth to provide round-the-clock care for their medically fragile baby.

Today, the family survives on a single modest income while facing mounting medical expenses. Despite their best efforts, arranging such a large amount for the surgery is simply beyond their reach.
