Help 3-Year-Old Deekshika Undergo Life-Saving Heart Surgery

Deekshika G is a brave little girl aged 3 years and 7 months from Krishnagiri District, Tamil Nadu, who has been battling a serious congenital heart disease since birth.

Her heart condition was first detected during an antenatal scan, and she was born at the Government Hospital, Krishnagiri. Shortly after her birth, her parents sought treatment at a Government Hospital in Chennai, where doctors advised immediate corrective heart surgery. Unfortunately, due to severe financial hardship and lack of awareness about available treatment options, the family was unable to proceed with the recommended surgery.

Deekshika’s father, Mr. Guna, is an illiterate daily wage labourer working as a construction helper. He earns approximately ₹500 per day and is the sole breadwinner of the family. With a meagre income that barely covers their daily expenses, arranging funds for a major cardiac surgery is simply beyond their reach.

During a free cardiac screening camp conducted by MIOT Hospitals at the Government Hospital, Krishnagiri, Deekshika was identified and referred for further evaluation. Following detailed investigations at MIOT Hospitals, doctors diagnosed her with a Large Perimembranous Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) with Severe Pulmonary Hypertension, a life-threatening congenital heart condition that requires urgent surgical intervention.

The treating cardiac team has strongly recommended early VSD closure surgery to prevent irreversible damage to her heart and lungs and to give her the opportunity to lead a healthy and normal life.

The estimated cost of the surgery and related medical care is ₹2,60,000, which includes:

• Cardiac surgery

• ICU care

• Hospital stay

• Post-operative investigations

• Medications and follow-up treatment
