Udayakumar is a cheerful 7-year-old boy from a small village in Thiruvallur district. He loves to smile, play, and be around his family like any other child. But behind his bright smile is a painful medical battle he has been fighting since he was a baby.

Udayakumar was born in a Primary Health Center in Thiruvallur. His parents were overjoyed to welcome their little boy and dreamed of watching him grow into a healthy and happy child. But when Udayakumar was just nine months old, their happiness suddenly turned into fear.

One day, he became severely ill with continuous vomiting and diarrhea. His terrified parents rushed him to a Government Hospital hoping he would recover quickly. But during further medical examinations, doctors discovered something much more serious.

Udayakumar’s tiny heart was not beating properly.

Desperate to save their baby, his parents took him to MIOT Hospitals in Chennai for further treatment. After detailed tests, doctors diagnosed him with Bradycardia, a dangerous condition where the heart beats much slower than normal. When the heart beats too slowly, it cannot pump enough blood to the brain and vital organs, which can become life-threatening.

When Udayakumar was only one year old, doctors had to perform a permanent epicardial dual-chamber pacemaker implantation to regulate his heartbeat. For his parents, it was the most frightening moment of their lives. Watching their tiny child go through heart surgery was unbearable, but it saved his life.

That small device helped Udayakumar grow, play, and live like other children.

But now, six years later, his life is once again at risk.

During a recent medical check-up at MIOT Hospitals, doctors informed the family that his pacemaker has reached the stage where it urgently needs replacement through a transvenous procedure. Without replacing the pacemaker, his heart may not function properly, and his life could be in serious danger.

The surgery costs ₹4,00,000, a huge amount for his struggling family.

Udayakumar’s father, Mr. Sathishkumar, works as a wood cutter, earning around ₹700 a day only when work is available. His income is uncertain, and many days he returns home without earning anything. Providing food and basic needs for the family itself is difficult, and arranging such a large amount for surgery is simply impossible.

Today, this loving father is standing helpless, watching his son’s life depend on a surgery he cannot afford.
