Ms. Malar and Mr. Ravi, daily wage labourers from Dharmapuri district, are fighting the hardest battle of their lives—to save their only daughter, 14-year-old Sadhana.

Sadhana was born with a congenital heart condition. From the time she was just 2 years old, she would struggle to breathe whenever she caught a cold or cough. Her worried parents rushed her to multiple hospitals, only to be told that she had a “hole in the heart” and that treatment could be done when she grew older. Holding on to hope, they waited for the right time.

Recently, during a routine health check-up at her school, doctors once again suspected a serious heart issue. She was referred to a free cardiac screening camp at the Government Hospital in Dharmapuri, and after initial evaluation, she was directed to MIOT Hospitals for further treatment.

At MIOT Hospitals, the diagnosis confirmed their worst fears—Sadhana has a small membrano-muscular VSD (a hole in the heart). Doctors have advised an urgent VSD device closure procedure, a life-saving treatment that can give her a chance to live a healthier, normal life. The cost of this procedure is ₹2,00,000.

For her parents, who earn barely ₹300 a day through daily wage labour, this amount is unimaginable. Their pain runs even deeper—they have already lost two children in the past. Sadhana is their only hope, their only reason to keep going.

As if this was not enough, Sadhana is also facing additional challenges. She has a speech delay, hearing impairment, and is currently undergoing evaluation for possible vision problems. Yet, despite everything, she continues to smile, to fight, and to hold on to life with incredible courage.

Today, her parents stand helpless, with no means to afford the treatment that could save their daughter. Time is not on their side, and every day without treatment puts her at greater risk.
