Dharshan, a vibrant 10-year-old boy from Tamil Nadu’s Cuddalore district, dreams of a bright future despite the challenges life has placed before him. A diligent Class 6 student at a local Government school, his passion for learning and his radiant smile mask the silent struggle he has endured since the age of six.

Recurring bouts of severe cold, cough, and wheezing have robbed Dharshan of the carefree childhood every child deserves. Recently, during a free cardiac screening camp organized by MIOT Hospitals, Dharshan’s condition was revealed to be far more serious than anyone imagined. He was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart defect: Large Posterosuperior ASD with PAPVC of RUPV to RA, a life-threatening condition that requires urgent surgical intervention.

Doctors at MIOT Hospitals have recommended a combined surgical procedure: ASD closure and rerouting of pulmonary veins to LA. The estimated cost of this critical surgery is ₹2,80,000.

A Family Struggling Against the Odds
Dharshan’s family is grappling with overwhelming hardship. His father, Mr. Bharathiraja, tragically passed away due to complications from diabetes, leaving his mother, Ms. Imaiyazhagi, as the sole provider. Working as an agricultural laborer and earning just ₹4,000 a month, she struggles to meet even their basic needs, let alone afford life-saving medical treatment for her son.
