Meet Kanira, a bright 1.7-year-old girl from Vilunjambakkam, Tiruvallur, born with an indomitable spirit despite facing life-threatening health challenges from day one. Alongside her twin sister, Kanira came into the world as a joyful presence, but shortly after her birth, her parents received unexpected and distressing news—a hole in her heart that would need critical intervention. 

Despite a normal prenatal scan, Kanira was soon diagnosed with several severe conditions: a Large Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), a significant left-to-right shunt, Hyperkinetic Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), and anemia. For nearly two years, her family has worked tirelessly to manage her low hemoglobin levels with supplements. But now, Kanira’s life depends on urgent intervention through a PDA device closure to correct her heart defects and improve her health.

Kanira’s father, Selvakumar, earns a modest daily wage of Rs. 500 as a painter, though work is often unpredictable. Her mother, Muthulakshmi, supplements their income as a maid, making around Rs. 3,000 a month. Together, they support their family of four with everything they have, yet the cost of Kanira’s procedure—Rs. 1,40,000, which includes the surgery, ICU and hospital stay, post-operative tests, and medications—is beyond their reach. 

The family is humbly seeking support to ensure Kanira receives the life-saving procedure she urgently needs. Every contribution brings Kanira closer to a healthy and happy future with her twin sister.
