Ajay, a lively 5-year-old boy from Sithamalli village in the Cuddalore district, has faced a challenging health journey from a very young age. At just 3 years old, he was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition—a hole in his heart—that doctors initially hoped would close naturally as he grew. However, annual echocardiograms revealed the troubling progression of his condition, with the hole increasing in size from 9mm to 12mm, and eventually to 14mm.

Despite his family's hopes for a natural improvement, a sudden episode of sharp chest pain at school a few weeks ago highlighted the urgency of Ajay's situation. Concerned teachers immediately sent him home, prompting his parents to take swift action.

The turning point came during a routine polio drop camp in their village. A vigilant nurse noticed Ajay's condition and urged his parents, Jaya Kumar, a dedicated hotel master, and Durga Devi, a devoted homemaker, to seek specialized care at Cuddalore Government Hospital. It was there that Ajay's case caught the attention of doctors from MIOT International, who regularly conduct medical camps at the hospital.

Ajay has been diagnosed with a large Ostium Secundum Atrial Septal Defect (OS ASD) and an additional small fenestration. He urgently needs an elective closure procedure to correct these defects. The estimated cost for the procedure is Rs. 2,50,000, which includes surgery, ICU and hospital stay, post-operative investigations, and medications.
