A Hidden Hole in Her Heart — Help 10-Year-Old Yakshini Get the Treatment She Needs

Ten-year-old Yakshini Mani from Dharmapuri was living the normal life of a Class 6 student—going to her government school, studying, playing, and dreaming about her future.

She looked healthy. She had no noticeable symptoms, and her family had no reason to believe that something was wrong with her heart.

Everything changed during a routine health camp at her school.

Doctors noticed signs of a possible heart condition and advised her parents to take her for further cardiac evaluation. Yakshini later attended a free cardiac screening camp conducted by MIOT Hospitals at Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital and was referred to MIOT Hospitals for detailed investigations.

Doctors Found a Large Hole in Yakshini's Heart

After further evaluation, doctors diagnosed Yakshini with a Large Ostium Secundum Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) — a significant hole between the two upper chambers of her heart.

Although Yakshini had grown up without obvious symptoms, this heart defect now requires treatment.

Doctors have advised an ASD device closure procedure to close the hole in her heart and give her the chance to grow up with a healthier heart.

Her Father Is a Bus Driver — ₹2 Lakh Is Beyond the Family's Reach

Yakshini's father, Mr. Mani, works as a bus driver and earns approximately ₹20,000 per month.

His income supports the family's everyday needs, but arranging ₹2 lakh for his daughter's heart procedure is far beyond what he can manage alone.

For a father, knowing that his child can be treated but not having enough money to afford that treatment is an incredibly difficult situation.
