Tamil Selvan and Manju, parents of a beautiful baby girl named Nilavalaki, have come to Chennai seeking urgent medical treatment for their little one. Hailing from Eravor, a remote village in Kallakurichi district, the couple had no idea that their baby had a serious heart condition. The issue was not detected during the prenatal stage, and it was only after Nilavalaki fell ill repeatedly that a pediatrician in their local hospital discovered the problem. The doctor diagnosed her with a rapid heartbeat and further scans revealed a heart condition known as Unobstructed TAPVC with dual drainage (cardiac & supracardiac).

Determined to get the best care for their daughter, Tamil Selvan and Manju undertook a long journey, traveling by foot and bus, to reach Chennai this morning. Tamil Selvan works in building construction and has recently been promoted to cementing walls after years of laboring to mix cement. Manju's father reached out to a distant relative, a doctor at Thiruvallur Government Hospital, who directed them to MIOT Hospitals in Chennai for a thorough examination.

The doctors at MIOT Hospitals have diagnosed Nilavalaki with Unobstructed TAPVC with dual drainage, a condition that requires immediate surgical intervention. She has been advised to undergo elective surgery – TAPVC repair – to correct this life-threatening heart defect. The estimated cost of the procedure is Rs. 3,50,000, which includes surgery, ICU and hospital stay, post-operative investigations, and medications.

Tamil Selvan and Manju are devastated as they have no means to afford this expensive surgery. Despite Tamil Selvan’s hard work in construction, their financial situation does not allow them to contribute towards the medical expenses. They are turning to kind-hearted well-wishers for help, as the surgery needs to be performed within a month to save their daughter’s life.
