Karkuzhi is their second child. It was when they had taken her for her routine immunization program to the Government Health Centre 35 days after birth, that they were told the baby had a cold and to postpone the vaccine. As no medication helped and another month had elapsed, they were directed to the Children’s Hospital at Egmore.
The baby was diagnosed with a congenital heart problem but due to the lockdown, the baby was put on medication and they were asked to report every month to check a slot for surgery. But a year has passed and they could not get a date for surgery. Finally their local health centre asked them to attend the pediatric cardiology camp at Kilpauk Hospital. Here the patient was referred to MIOT Hospitals for further treatment.
